Field visit to Pachamama Raymi in Peru

In May Erik Schinkel and Karin Rivera of Form International visited the Más Arboles project of Pachamama Raymi (PMR) in Peru, a project aimed at restoring the forest landscape in the Andean highlands of Cuzco, in collaboration with 35 native communities (pueblos originarios).

Treevive supports PMR/SP financially with the implementation and development of the project and will market the carbon credits on behalf of the project. Form International supplies the technical assistance for the project documentation and the completion of the carbon certification process.

Erik and Karin visited Pachamama Raymi and the project area. They provided training to community members and PMR staff on carbon baseline measurements and certification requirements, evaluated recent plantings and supported with the selection of the conservation areas.

Very special was the visit to a rare remanence of the Andean forest: an oasis of trees and shrubs within a landscape almost depleted of wooden vegetation which is about to become under protection as part of the conservation area of the project, by one of the participating communities.
