Mangrove Restoration and Conservation in Benin

Located in southwestern Benin, the Eco-Benin Mangrove Carbon Project is developed by the NGO Eco-Benin, leveraging over 20 years of experience in conservation and sustainable development.
The project spans 31,152 hectares, including the Bouche du Roy reserve and parts of the Mono Transboundary Biosphere Reserve, a Ramsar-protected area. It aims to restore 2,500 hectares of mangroves using active planting and natural regeneration techniques.
Certified under VCS and CCB standards, the project will prevent 784,654 tons of CO2 emissions over 40 years. It also protects critical habitats for species like the African Manatee and Leatherback Turtle while supporting local communities through education and sustainable development initiatives.
